What is the Social Security Check limit for Disability backpay?
Does anyone know how much a Social Security Disability check is limited to per month. I am waiting for my first check and I don’t know if it’s going to be broken down or one large check. This is retroactive (back pay) for several years including a dependent. Thanks!

Depends on if it is “traditional” SSDI or SSI.
SSDI (for people who worked long enough and recently enough) there is no limit; you will receive it all.
However, if you are going to be receiving SSI (a max of $603/month in 2006) your checks will have to be divided into payments because it is more than 12 months of benefits and SSI is asset and income sensitive (if you receive 3 years of benefits for SSI all at once, you will not likely be able to get below the asset limit quick enough).
I’ve had clients get back due checks over $80,000. It happens.
