Yes, I am on disability and they are always sending me info about how I can work and keep some of my ssd. Check with your S.S. office they will have info for you. I can’t work…no matter what, so…..
They have a program called “Ticket to work.” I would recommend that you check it out.
I am currently receiving SSDI due to OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), and I am well enough now to start working again. I am a paralegal…but I may start working at Home Depot this week.
Yes, you can work and still receive SSDI (Social Security Disability), but there are limits on what you may earn and still receive your SSDI check. For example, in my state, I may earn 1200 dollars (gross- that is, total earnings before taxes are taken out) every month and yet still get my SSDI money.
Yes. But there is a limit on how much a person can earn if the person is under 65 years old.
If this is a concern on how much they can earn, I would encourage a person to contact a local Independent Living Center to find a specialist who can sit down with the person to go over all the benefits and employment.
If a person calls the SSA office, they would get a different answer on how much they can earn each time they call.
There is also a limit on how much a person can earn while on SSI as well.

If you are on SSD you are allowed to work
BUT…
You can only earn a pittance!
If you make too much you will lose your SSD.
This is a major issue for those who are able work but have heavy continuing medical expenses.
Once you lose it, you can NEVER get it back
for the same disability!

But eventually, I want to get off of the SSDI.
Good luck!
