I misread your question initially , I actually received my checks just prior to the award letter but they can come slightly before or after .Usually in about 60 days the checks arrive and they come in 3 installments in succession . You will get all three within a month after the first check arrives . I’ve been there myself just 2 years ago after fighting for years for it . I’m on disability and was initially turned down and went through the whole process including a hearing before a judge . I was 30% below social securities listed impairment level as I proved and was given a bench judgment or on the spot win in my favor . It’s a long drawn out process if your one who is singled out seemingly at random . I’m sure the gentleman below is correct in his information concerning his case also . Your in the hands of a disability determination specialist , and if they are rushed to clear their cases off their desks you will pay dearly for it .

I’m on disability now, it didn’t take anywhere near 3 years for it to go through. It only took a few months for the money to start coming in.

Social Security was not intended for that purpose. This is why we are running out of funds.
